Rental Policy

GENERAL - We try to achieve a mutually beneficial transaction. No A to Z policy is more important than this objective. Talk to us and ask questions on anything unclear to you. We will try hard to respond to your satisfaction. The information provided here is given only to help explain the many details in a rental business transaction. It does not replace the rental contract in any way. RATES -- Are quoted according to the rental periods indicated below. Not all items are available by the hour. CHARGES ARE CALCULATED BASED ON TIME OUT, NOT TIME USED.

RENTAL PERIODS

HOURLY: Applies only to some items. There is usually a three or four hour minimum.

DAILY: Usually 8 A.M. to 5 P.M., or 8 machine hours on construction equipment.

OVERNIGHT: Usually 5 P.M. to 8 A.M. on the following day.

24 HOURS: Twenty-four clock hours.

WEEKLY: Seven 24-hour days, or 40 machine hours on construction equipment.

MONTHLY: Twenty-eight 24-hour days.

IDENTIFICATION

You will need a valid Driver's License with Photo ID. Otherwise you will need valid identification and an ID photo.

ADVANCE SECURITY

Cash or valid Credit Card as security deposit.

CLEANING CHARGES

Equipment must be returned clean or a reasonable cleaning charge will be made. In some cases, this charge can be substantial; for example, when paint, concrete, etc., has dried on equipment.

METHODS OF PAYMENT

We accept cash, MasterCard, Visa and Discover Cards. We also welcome commercial business accounts and will be pleased to set one up for those interested.

FUEL

You are responsible for all fuel used, as well as for using the proper fuel or electrical current. A to Z pays for oil. Save receipts.

DELIVERY

We deliver. Ask about rates and availability.

DAMAGE WAIVER

This is a percentage of the total rental fee. In return for this fee, we will not charge you for accidental damage to the equipment. Damage waiver does not cover theft, mysterious disappearance, abuse or mususe, such as damage to an engine that is run without oil or a motor without proper electrical extension cords. Without damage waiver, your responsibility is for all damage, parts, and labor required to return equipment to safe rentable condition.

BREAKDOWN

If equipment is not working properly or breaks down, telephone use and we will replace or repair it with all deliberate speed. Sometimes you will be asked to return the equipment to us for repair. A to Z is not responsible for your loss of time or material for lack of functioning equipment.

SAFETY

Failure to follow safety instructions may lead to injury or death. Using products for their intended uses and following safety instructions is your responsibility. We provide Users Guides and decals whenever practical. However, we cannot attend to your saftey or the safety of third parties.

First call A to Z Rentals and let us know about the situation. We will advise you of what to do next.

What is AtoZ Rentals cancellation policy?

We know that your needs and schedules can change, and when this happens we would prefer that you call and cancel, rather than not showing up for the equipment. 48 hours prior to pick up time your card will be charged 50%. This allows us to make the item available to another customer in need of the equipment.

Cancellation of items, due to rain, will be be taken into consideration. If equipment has already been picked up or delivered, there will be no refund due to rain.

How late can I change my order?

We request that you change your order no later than 48 hours before your scheduled rental time. This helps us to facilitate adequate availability of equipment for all renters. We appreciate your compliance with this -- and so will other renters.

Do I have to wash equipment before I return it?

Construction and Homeowner equipment should be returned to us in reasonably clean condition. Be sure to use protective padding or covering to help keep your vehicle free from dirt and damage. A to Z Rentals & Sales reserves the right to add a cleaning charge if any rental item is returned excessively soiled.

Do you deliver and pick-up?

We are happy to deliver rental equipment. We include Free delivery for riders and tractors only, within a 20 mile radius of our rental facility. Rates for delivery of other items will be determined, based on the particular item(s) and distance to be traveled.

A flat rate charge rental begins when the equipment leaves A to Z and ends when it is available for immediate pickup.

To facilitate proper pick-up scheduling, we require 3-hours prior notice. Waiting time for our driver on your jobsite in excess of 5 minutes will be charged for.

Yes. To make sure you get the most out of your A to Z rental, we offer Free instructional videos on selected rental equipment. Check with one of our rental agents to see if a video is available for your specific rental item.

When do I pay?

Payment for rental items will vary with each particular situation. Generally, payment for tool and equipment rentals is made at the end of the rental period. On some items, a deposit may be required up front, which will be deducted on return of the rental item. For long term rentals of more than one month, we do require payments to be made monthly.

How do I pay?

We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover Card for payment of rentals. Click here for A to Z's Credit Application. If you would prefer us to bill your company, we ask that you first establish a charge account with us.

Deposits are accepted in the form of cash and credit cards only. We are not able to accept checks for deposit.

For retail sales over $500 we have low rate financing on all equipment.

What are your rental periods?

We offer a number of different rental periods to accommodate the needs of our customers. Some of our equipment has minimum rental periods of 2, 3, 4, or 8 hours. Overnight rentals run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. (the start of the next business day). 8-hour rental rates run from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 24-hour rental rates run from "out" stamped time. 5 and 7-day rental weeks are available on most equipment. A 4-week rate is equal to 4 consecutive 7-day weeks.

Some of our equipment is metered and the rental charge is based on a 1 day = 8-hour work shift, with an hourly rate charge for hours over the initial 8-hours.

Can I get a better price by renting an item for an extended period of time?

Yes. All of our rental items are pre-calculated on a rate scale that can save you money when renting over a longer period of time. One of our rental agents will be happy to quote you a price for an extended rental period.

What do I need in order to rent?

If your company has an established account with us, we will follow the guidelines provided by your company. For an individual or company that does not currently have an account with us, we require a valid Connecticut driver's license or equivalent picture ID. If you are an out of state contractor, you will be required to provide us with a credit card as security.

For some rental items, a deposit may be requested at the time of rental. One of our rental agents will be happy to discuss your particular situation.

Can I reserve an item?

Yes. The best way of insuring availability of an item when you need it is to reserve ahead of time. You can call us at 203-696-0800, or print, fill out, and fax the handy reservation form on this website.

How far ahead must I reserve an item?

In general, it's best to reserve an item as soon as you know you will need it. Availability of any item varies by the item, day of the week, season, weather, demand, etc. Lock in your items ASAP to assure that they'll be ready when you are.

If I really need something and you are closed, what do I do?

If your need is an emergency and you cannot wait until we're open, call our local store phone number (203-696-0800). Our answering service will attempt to contact an employee who can assist you. A minimum $75.00 after-hours fee may be charged. Depending on the nature of your request, this fee could be more.

Can I return an item when you are closed?

Since we lock our gates securely after hours, there is no place to safely leave any rental equipment. It is better to pay a late fee than be charged the replacement cost of any items which are dropped off after hours and subsequently stolen.

This equipment I rented is great! Can I buy it?

Yes. We are always in happy to sell our used equipment. A price quote will be determined, based on the age and condition of the item, as well as the time you have been renting it. Remember, we also sell Honda, Cub Cadet, Exmark, Yanmar, Echo, and Club Car.

What are AtoZ Rentals & Sales store hours?

We are open 6 days a week for your convenience. As a reminder, our hours are posted at the top right of each page on this website: Mon-Fri: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sat.: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are closed on Sunday.

1 day rate applies from 3:30 PM Saturday to 8:00 AM Monday.

What should I do if something I rent is stolen?

First, call the police and fill out a report. Then call A to Z Rentals & Sales at 203-696-0800. If there is a need for you to do anything else, we will inform you of what to do next.

When does my rental time begin and end?

Your rental time begins when the equipment is picked up by you according to contract. On delivered equipment, rental time begins when it leaves A to Z Rentals and Sales. Your rental time ends when the equipment is returned and checked in by one of our rental agents.
